A Schoolboy’s dream … the music industry’s great opportunity. Olawale Olakolu popularly known as Wale Waves started writing songs at the age of 13. While in school, he was influenced by friends and neighbours who made him realize his rare talent and his ability to mime songs of famous artists at that time. He never stopped at that but moved to the next level as he started composing his own songs.
By 1995, in Loyola College, Ibadan, he co-formed a duo singing group called The Citizens with Olumide Afolayanka. Still burning with music-passion…a year later he started music professionally with friends- Twinax. This group’s musical strength exuded from their classical music background and theoretical knowledge acquired from Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church Choir, Ibadan. They performed in several events and shows such as the DTD show at Lekki Beach in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
During his Ladoke Akintola University of Ogbomoso days, handsome looking Wale, who is always conscious of his looks, was nick-named Wale Waves because of his natural hair waves. He took part in several social activities; emerged as President and founder of several entertainment outfits .TWISM Inc.one of the several outfits was famous for inviting a host of reigning artists like Plantashun Boiz, Tony Tetiula, Paul I.K Dairo, Father U-Turn, X-Appeal, Def-O-Clan, Zule-zoo, Ruggedman etc which was a rare feat to achieve then. He received several awards back in school before he was later given the merit award in music.
He joined Gentlemen Quartet (G.Q) with Djinee(Ego crooner),Charles Iwuogo and Guitardious as members of the group.
Years after years, passion and persistence laced his pursuits for achievements, excellence and success. He paid all the dues he ought to pay as life demands per time; sometimes he paid in tears and pains. Between 2005 and 2006 Wale Waves blazed several top notch events organised by prominent brands like British Council Party 2005 in Ikoyi, Guinness 2005/2006 Party respectively, Miss Oyo Beauty Show 2005, Miss U.I Beauty Show 2005, Miss Osun 2007Celtel’s 2007 End of the Year Party, The Next Movie Star TV Reality Show Eviction and Winners’ Party 2006,and Opening Party 2007 respectively, Ikeja City Awards 2007,The official launch of the Facebook magazine 2009,The premiere of a Kunle Afolayan Movie tittled FIGURINE ‘Araromire’[sound track vocals by Wale Waves,produced by Netto and George Nathaniel] in Nigeria and Ghana 2009, Nite of a thousand laughs in Ibadan and Benin, Nigerian Breweries and Guinness Exhibition Shows in Ibadan and Benin in Dec. 2009,
Dj Chascolee’s Birthday/Album listening party in Ikeja, 2010, Laffmataz Celeberation of Life For Baba Sala, V.Island, Lagos, 2010, just to mention few.
Wale Waves has a lot of songs to his credit and has also featured in his songs various renowned artists like Oritsefemi in Shakara, Truth (Guitardius) in Alaafia Series2 (rmx), Lord of Ajasa and Clever Jay in Baby U Try , Tolu Maintain in Ibadan Lawa, Obesere in Foo Kuli .
Wale Waves was featured on a new single track by Silver Saddih, formally an artiste on Question Mark Rec Label in lagos. The single track’s video to be shot in South Africa titled “KONKO JABELE” [written by Wale Waves and Netto] is set to hit you very soon.
