FACTORY78 INTRODUCING: Nike Jemiyo - A Songwriter & Pianist. Published by DjLanre

Nike Jemiyo is a singer - songwriter who trained as a pianist since the tender age of 7. Born and raised in London, Nike Jemiyo began song-writing before the age of 13. Then, she was studying at CYM, Pimlico - The Centre for Young Musicians where she attended piano, musical theory and song-writing classes. At this time Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans, Brandy and Whitney Houston were her musical inspirations.

As a pianist and writer, she was mentored under Chris Wilson (a producer and musician from The Royal College of Music, London) who quickly realised Nike’s talent and took her under his wing. During her time at the Musical Institute Nike performed at venues including St John’s Smiths Square, The Young Vic and The Broadway Theatre to name a few. At 15 years of age Nike went further on to record at the Abbey Road studios for the soundtrack to the film DOGMA starring Matt Damon.

At 17 Nike’s attendance at CYM had come to an end. From here on was the beginning of her independent journey as an artist. Nike began working with producers, songwriters and vocalists, leading numerous gospels choirs and more recently is developing as a producer as well. During this time Nike has been working on material that speaks about her experiences, growing up as a young women in South-East London addressing issues that every girl can relate to - identity, insecurity, integrity and love.

2009 saw her debut post on youtube where she gained a fanbase at a phenomenal rate with hundreds of thousands of views…
