Nollywood Movie Black Gold
Nigerian movie director Jeta Amata is a well known and respected Nigerian filmmaker whose film, Amazing Grace showed to the world beyond that he is capable of doing big things. Jeta is out with Black Gold, his latest offing, shortly after Inale hit the cinemas.
Black Gold is a powerful story of greed, murder and corruption in the murky waters of the volatile, oil-rich, Niger-Delta region of Nigeria. The movie is an epic about environmental injustice and the fight over the control of the scarce oil resources the world runs on.
The line between good and evil is blurred as corrupt government officials, greedy oil companies and violent rebels go on a war path over oil spills and degradation of the land caused by oil exploration.
The movie stars Billy Zane, Mbong Amata, Hakeem Kae Kazim and Sarah Wayne Callies. It is produced by Jeta Amata, Wilson Ebiye, Dede Mabiaku and Hakeem Kae Kazim.

WORLD BREAKING NEWS: JUDE ‘M.I.’ ABAGA WANTS TO QUIT MUSIC FOR ACTING!
Conflicting and confusing reports coming in from Abuja has it that Mister Incredible, M.I, the premier artist of CHOCOLATE CITY MUSIC has thrown the rank and file of the record label into confusion by announcing that he wants to pursue a career in the movies.
As it is now, he may already even taken part in a film production because we immediately called him to confirm and this is what he said: “I think it’s about time for me to try something else and acting is something I’ve always had a passion for and I think it’s time for me to explore that area. I know my fans will love my new movie coming out and although this may not be final, I will no longer be doing music for the time being.”
As far-fetched as this may sound for a rapper who quickly rose to the top of Nigerian music scene with just one album in the space of one year, close sources to CHOCOLATE CITY MUSIC where he and his brother Jesse Jags and Ice Prince are signed on are saying that M.I actually put this request in writing. A call to Mr. Audu Maikori, the head honcho of the Abuja-based label, didn’t fully clear the air because while he didn’t outrightly dismiss the story he admitted that M.I has actually requested that the November release date for his sophomore album, M.I 2, be shifted indefinitely for the meantime. Further questions as to whether M.I would be fully quitting the label went unreplied.
M.I who first came to limelight in 2008 with the release of his debut album, TALK ABOUT IT, has been on top of his game and emerged as arguably the best rapper in the country. He is also the highest ranking Nigerian rapper in the recently released MNET AFRICA list of the ten best African rappers. He is widely respected in the Nigerian music industry and legend has it that TALK ABOUT IT sold 30, 000 copies in the first 30 minutes of its release in 2008. He has also won numerous awards with it.

KEEP THE CHANGE (A PMAN TALE)
"When you're finished changing, you're finished" - Benjamin Franklin
PMAN (The Performing Musicians' Employers Association of Nigeria) had their Annual Delegates Conference to Elect New Leadership for the next two years on Wednesday the 26th of January. The Conference was held in Osogbo, Osun State and hosted Delegates, Members and Representatives of PMAN from all over Nigeria who were present to decide the future of the Union. The conference also saw the brief attendance of PMAN's founding President, the Legendary King Sunny Ade, current Governor of Osun State Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola, as well as Former President Chief Tony Okoroji.
The truth of the matter is that, over the years, there has been a major disconnect between PMAN and the very professionals it is supposed to represent and/or protect. At its inception, this is a snapshot of who the founding members were: Chief (Mrs.) Christy Essien Igbokwe, King Sunny Ade (KSA), Evang. Sunny Okosuns (late), Chief Ebenezer Obey, Lemmy Jackson, Tee-Mac Omatshola Iseli, Emma Ogosi, Laolu Akins, Funmi Adams, Oby Onyioha, Maliki Showman, Harry Mosco, King Pago, Bobby Benson etc. Anyone remotely familiar with Nigerian Music History will agree that this was in the very least, an excellent representation of who were the significant PERFORMING MUSICIANS of that era. Part of the Union's Constitution that these great artistes put together can be found online at http://pmanonline.net/about.html.
Fast forward to today; PMAN is now a shadow of what it used to be, and essentially a disgrace to the legacy those that came before us put forth. Nigerian Musicians are achieving worldwide success in leaps and bounds, yet a snapshot of today's union shows that absolutely NONE of the significant musicians representing Nigeria are involved in the runnings of PMAN. Nigerian Musicians have accomplished great things in spite of a Union that no longer cares or caters to their needs; in spite of a Union that has been run down by greed, poor leadership and an archaic mentality; in spite of a Union that has alienated the very Professionals it is supposed to care for.
They say you should "be the change you want to see in the world". It was with this in mind, that today's crop of Nigerian Musicians attempted to rejoin PMAN en masse, and get involved in its leadership. We heard through the grapevine that the current administration's leadership term had come to end, and that the Organization was as frustrated as we the artistes were about the state of things. There were tales of offices shutting down, of staff salaries being unpaid, of rundown or nonexistent studios around the country and a total lack of organization; and so the artistes held a series of meetings. We all came up with a team of executives amongst ourselves, that we felt represented a cross section of Nigerian Music today. A team that did not necessarily comprise of the most popular musicians, but a team that on the one hand represented a solid cross section of Nigerian Music, as well as one that would be willing and able to put in the work necessary to right a sinking ship. The team included names like: eLDee The Don, Mr Cool, KSB, M.I., Sound Sultan, Ed Jatto, Efe Omoruegbe of Now Music etc.
The team made the journey to Osogbo along with other people including D'banj, Don Jazzy, Jesse Jagz, Wande Coal, 2Shotz, Dr Sid, D'Prince, Ice Prince, Baba Dee, and yours truly Banky W. Other artistes who were part of the meetings but did not make the trip included P'Square, 9ice, Tuface Idibia, WizKid and Skales. That we were able to assemble such an incredible cast of people under such short notice was a miracle in and of itself, but it also goes to show the frustration with the way things are and the willingness to work to bring about change. The purpose of our making the trip was to appeal to the powers that be at PMAN to vote for and put in the new team of leaders, and give them (us) a chance at resuscitating a failed Union; a chance at restoring PMAN to its glory days; a chance at restoring it to a place of relevance and a chance at Uniting the Body with the very members its supposed to comprise of. Safe to say I believe even the founders would have been proud at the Contingent of Artistes behind this movement, as I'm sure that's what they envisioned when they started this years ago.
What we found when we arrived in Osogbo was heart breaking. A system that is in rot and decay; a mindset that is so stuck in the ways of the past and an unwillingness to accept the realities of the present, much less step into the future. One would think that PMAN officials and delegates would accept the appeals coming from its Musicians; if they had accepted us, PMAN would automatically become a force to be reckoned with overnight as it would now TRULY represent all Nigerian Musicians, young and old; those in the limelight and those in the twilight of their careers.
Sadly, this was not to be. We came with respect on our minds, appealing to those that had been in the rundown system for years, to let us help rebuild it. We came "dobale-ing"; we pleaded, begged, offered all kinds of opportunities and the resources at our disposal. We offered to lead but to do so by serving. We offered to help restore relevance; to empower PMAN Nationally and at the State levels and so much more.
We were met with resistance, bitterness, slander and ignorance. People so afraid of any kind of change that they would rather cling on to a sinking ship than reach out and get on to a helicopter. And those that were apparently willing to accept the change, expected us to play the same old ignorant tactics that our corrupt Politicians play to get there. Ironically, what we saw yesterday was reflective of what is wrong with Nigeria as a whole.
We have one message to PMAN, and to Nigeria as a whole. Change will come. It will. They say the only thing that remains constant in Life is Change. The fact that Change will come is inevitable; we can choose to embrace it or evade it, but it will be to our progress or peril.. our development or demise. History is rife with instances where people were given an opportunity to choose either of these options, and the consequences that followed. PMAN was given an opportunity to choose to make History and to choose to change the failed ways of the past, and it declined, because we refused to stoop to reducing our standards. Dear PMAN Delegates (and Nigerian Politicians), please understand that we will NOT buy (or sell) Votes. What we are working for is so much more long term and the payout is infinitely greater than the here and now.
What they refused to realize is this: the ACTUAL Performing Musicians and Recording Artistes in Nigeria are determined to right the wrongs of our industry, with or without PMAN. That they declined is inconsequential to us. Our journey continues, but we strongly believe that they will remember and regret this day.
Our message to PMAN is as Benjamin Franklin once said “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished”.

WAJUDAH - No Be By Dada (Official Video)
His real name is Uleh Samson Wajemuta and he was born and bred in the ghetto's of Nigeria. Wajudah was born on July 31st 1982, in the reknown ghetto of suburb Ajegunle (a.k.a. A.J.) to parents who originally hail from Isoko South, Delta State (Nigeria). 'I'm a ghetto youth!' he likes to tell anyone who cares to listen. After he graduated from senior secondary school, this young rastaman could not resist his strong passion for music. In 1998 he finally made up his mind that a musical carrier is what he wants to pursue. Haven been orphaned by the untimely death of both parents, he relocated to Port Harcourt, which is bubbling with fire! There he met producer Konboye 'Seenclear' Sinclair and together they recorded the 10 song album 'More Fire'. He also records some new tune this year with same producer which u can listen and download from this link www.myspace.com/wajudah. Wajudah got inspired by the lyrics of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Garnet Silk, along with African stars like Alpha Blondy, Lucky Dube, Majek Fashek and the icon of afro-beat, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Being a young man though, it is only natural that the work of contemporary acts of his generation will rub off more on him; hence his placing 3 Jamaican biggest and more fire brand artists of this era, Capleton, Anthony B and Sizzla Kalonji, are his role model. Though he is more inclined toward the dancehall idiom of the reggae genre, unlike many other artists, Wajudah is not satisfied with merely putting out sounds for people to dance to. He is pregnant with a strong message, inspired by a life of deprivation and lack, he experienced growing up in A.J City. WAJUDAH also record some new tune with a Jamaica riddim called my baby been used by various artistes from all the world the song entitle (ALL SHE WANT) &(NO BI BY DADA) have been having some massive air play all over Nigeria. WAJUDAH also have a crew called the JUDAH YARD CREW, the yard is a small musical yard with young talented artistes both male and female comprising of DANCERS, SINGERS, D-Jays RAPPERS and SONG WRITERS. Naeto C Announces ‘Super C Season’ February 7 Release Date
In November 2010 Naeto was crowned Best Hip Hop Act in Africa @Channel O awards2010 in Johannesburg, this brought everything full circle as we knew that on November 17 of the same month he would also get another permanent title, MSC, for his graduation with honors from Dundee University's School of Energy which is one of the top schools in the world. We know there are many talented artistes, singers, rappers, etc who are graduates and even post-graduates but we are not sure there is anyone who has done it at this level, being a major star, winning major awards and at the same time having the discipline to deliver at the other end where there is no glamour but just hard work. Now the degree is done, the focus shifts back to the music, over the past 18 months Naeto C has gone through a process of transformation and now we have Super C, a man blessed with an ability to multi-task, to lead, to motivate and to show by example that their are no limits to what the young Nigerian nay African can achieve when they put their mind to it.
Many people would like to take credit for Naeto C's success but beyond his genes, his talent married with hard work, the longstanding support of Storm, the rest is down to God. Naeto C again made history by being one of the few hip hop artists to perform at The Whitehall Palace in London and also had the rare privilege of acting as the Host for the Prestigious Thisday Arise's event " O"n the road to 100years for Nigeria with Gordon Brown. Therefore as we enter Valentine and the month of February it seems only apt that in this season of goodwill we also enter Super C Season. When we refer to Naeto C as Super C we refer to the innate capacity of all people to overcome their own limitations and to aspire and achieve, to soar for the heights, and in doing this and celebrating Naeto we celebrate the strength, vitality, talent, resolve and humanity of his primary consituency, the Nigerian and African Youth, many of you are SuperHeroes and have to be that to survive and thrive in our environment so claim it as your own we recognise you and Naeto C salutes you.
Super C comes bearing gifts of music and motivation and wants to share his blessings with his fans, family, friends and public, its that time, its his time, its Super C Season. The album will be released before worldwide on Feb 7th and digitally on Feb 5th so be prepared and look out for it everywhere. Its that time to embrace your inner superhero and to soar for the heights as you do so we hope this album will be part of the soundtrack to your life and will keep you motivated, dancing, will nourish your mind, body and soul.

Oprah Sister: Patricia, Oprah's Secret Half Sister, Revealed
Vernita Lee, Oprah's mother, gave Patricia up for adoption in 1963, but kept her a secret from her daughter. Oprah was nine years old and living with her father when her mother had the baby. She said she never even knew Vernita was pregnant.
Oprah and Patricia were publicly reunited on Monday's show. Oprah showed video of her and her partner, Steadman Graham, driving to Milwaukee to meet Patricia for the first time on Thanksgiving Day last year.
Patricia said she started thinking that Oprah might be her sister when she saw an interview with Vernita Lee on television. The information Lee gave coincided with what she knew about her birth family.
She tried to track down her birth mother, but was told by the adoption that the mother did not want to get in touch with her. But Patricia did manage to track down Oprah's niece, and DNA tests confirmed that they were related. This led to Oprah confronting her mother, who confirmed that Patricia was indeed her half sister. Vernita Lee also appeared on Monday's show. Source Huffington Post added by Adesope twitter/sopsydoo

anticipated release of her debut single, ‘Pressure’ on January 31st.

forthcoming album and serves as a tantalising taster of what’s to come

Dancehall artist Vybz Cartel compares skin bleaching to tanning.. what?

Retired baseball player Sammy Sosa isn’t the only celebrity that has been dipping his hand in the skin bleaching jar. According to Rolling Out Magazine, Jamaican dancehall artist Vybz Kartel has bleached his skin in an attempt to change his image. Reggae artist Vybz Kartel hates himself, but it’s not his fault. The dancehall musician lightened his skin and has experienced a backlash from fans who are appalled by his physical changes. In a recent interview, Kartel linked blacks who lighten their skin to white people who tan. “This is my new image,” Kartel said in the interview. “You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with black people lightening their skin. They want a different look. It’s tantamount to white people getting a sun tan.” Kartell is endorsing his own brand of cake soap and claims that the soap lightens his skin. However, Bounty Killer countered by saying that his mother has used cake soap and it has yet to bleach her skin. Bounty Killer believes that Kartel is using something stronger to lighten his skin. The Company that produces the Cake Soap has also shot down claims that the soap can lighten the skin. “Blue soap does not bleach. It has no ingredients in it that damages the skin. If anybody is saying that it will discolor the skin or take off pigmentation that is absolutely not true.” added by Adesope twitter/sopsydoo

ID Cabasa, Toni Payne Shun 9ice's Birthday Party
Award winning Nigerian star, 9ice celebrated his 31st birthday on the 16th of January 2011 at Swe Bar, Lagos island.
His long time friend and producer ID Cabasa was conspicuously missing from the venue as well as his ex- wife, Toni Payne amongst other popular celebrities like the Mo'Hits crew, Chocolate City crew, P-Square, 2face and close buddy 2Phat.
However, R&B Crooner Banky W was there to join the 'Gongo Aso' hit maker in celebrating what people who attended the event called a fabulous birthday bash.
It is not surprising to know that 9ice's ex wife Toni Payne was absent at the bash taking into consideration the fall out of their marraige but ID Cabasa shunning the party might indicate a little rancour between the best friends. Source modernghana.com added by Adesope twitter/sopsydoo
