CHOCOLATE CITY SIGNS A NEW ARTIST…AND IT’S A GIRL! (Video)
The multi award winning record label, Chocolate City, is home to some of the music industry’s top house hold names, such as M.I, Jesse Jagz, Iceprince, and Brymo.
With the rapid growth of the label and increasing success of artist management, Chocolate City has proven to be a hub of talent exploitation, and manifestation. It is no surprise that a lot of youth, internationally and locally, have reached out to be signed to the label, in hopes of achieving their dreams. So far, Chocolate City has an all-male cast as its line up, and the general public have bugged the label to sign a female act. Chocolate City, known for setting trends, decided to bide their time, and look out for the girl that possessed qualities of a Choc BOI – Bold, Original, Innovative. In came a young lady, full of energy and enthusiasm who welcomed the opportunity of being featured along-side, award winning Africa’s rapper numero uno, M.I on his upcoming mixtape “Deux Illegaux de Musique – Illegal Music 2”. After label heads, Audu Maikori, and Paul Okeugo heard her lyrical prowess on the song “No-tis” (a cover of Jay Z and Kanye West’s Otis), they decided to put her through the CC boot camp.
Without further a-do, ladies and gentlemen, Chocolate City presents to the world, its first signed female artist, Pryse! Pryse is a talented Nigerian rapper who is eager to follow the footsteps of her fellow label mates in creating music that would not only entertain, but influence the public. Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Princess Esindu a.k.a Pryse, started rapping in church at the tender age of 10. Pryse always knew she wanted to be a musician; encouraged by her family who own and run Frontline TV Studio in Port Harcourt, Pryse took a keen interest in entertainment. Pryse knew she had to nurture her passion, so she went to study media in Nottingham, UK. While in the UK, she took up writing her own songs, and co-producing with her older brother. When asked who her influences are, Pryse lists, Jay Z, Drake, Lil Wayne, and M.I – it is precisely the admiration for M.I that led her to work her way to be signed by Chocolate City. In an industry where female emcees are outnumbered by men, Pryse is sure she will keep the torch blazing for the young ambitious women out there.
When asked what it meant to be the first female signed to Chocolate City, Pryse had this to say “ I thank God I’ve come this far, and I’m just happy its finally happened, and I’m ready to put in the work, so let’s go. I’m ready to be a BOI (Bold Original Innovative).” The label is looking forward to presenting to the world its first signed female artist, Pryse. “We hope they hear/see in her, what we did” – Doosuur Tilley-Gyado (Talent Mngr Chocolate City). Pryse is available for interviews from March 20th 2012.

New Kid from Grafton Records (Read) Source-ThisdayLive.com
Popular record label, Grafton Records which is known for mentoring and developing raw African talents in Nigeria especially in Port Harcourt has revealed its latest act, Mr 2Kay.
The singer comes into the music scene with his unique style of street music. The newest member of the Grafton Streetz label whose real name is Abiye David Jumbo has had his fair share of hardships.
But that has not eroded beliefs which have inspired his tag of being a motivational artiste poised to give hope to struggling youths through his music.
Much of this is inspired from rough beginnings while growing up in Rivers State. He later made his way back to his native Bonny Island to take advantage of the booming oil and gas business by getting a job that paved the way for university education.
During this time, with music still in his mind, he made ends meet by drawing portraits of people and selling it to them for cash. He later secured an employment during the construction of the Nigerian NLNG project which helped him raise enough money to pursue his education at the University of Port Harcourt. SOURCE.THIS DAYLIVE

On "Pieces", AT raps about an ex who wasn't acting right when they were together but now that she has moved on, he wants her back. It is an infectious rap song with a catchy hook that gives you only a glimpse into what AT is capable of and is all about…
Cross River state-native Atuora "AT" Erokoro was born on January 24, 1990 in Silver Spring, Maryland and spent the first ten years of her life in Calabar, in which time she developed a passion for music. She grew to love the art of playing with words which was reflected in her knack for writing poetry and which has now culminated into her passion and flair for Hip-Hop.
Currently unsigned, she is working hard to become a successful artiste in the predominantly male Hip-Hop community. She is gearing up for the release of her debut project The Climb. The 18-track mixtape will serve as AT's introduction to the music industry. African And Proud: May7ven, Described As The African Beyoncé, And Revellers At An Afrobeats Sunday(READ)
A sound previously confined to family weddings and specialist radio shows is seeping fast into the mainstream. It's a musical mish-mash: Ghanaian and Nigerian pop, Western hip hop, funky house and Afrobeat - the groundbreaking melange of jazz, funk and African chanting pioneered by Fela Kuti in the 1970s.
The biggest facilitator of the UK Afrobeats scene has been DJ Abrantee, who popularised the genre via his Saturday-night Choice FM Afrobeats radio show.
"In the last eight months, it's suddenly gone woomph! People told me I could never fill Proud2 with 3,000 people on a Sunday. But we've done it," says Abrantee, who was born to Ghanaian parents and flies to Africa almost weekly to DJ.
The scene's biggest stars are Africans such as Nigerian rappers D'Banj (recently signed to Kanye West's record label) and Wizkid, and Ghanaian hip hop artist Sarkodie. However, home-grown acts such as Vibe Squad, Mr Silva, Donae'o and Olu Banks are also breaking through. Then there's May7ven.

Described as the "African Beyoncé" (despite having grown up in Wembley), the Nigerian-born 27-year-old regularly plays to the African diaspora across the globe"I want to show I'm African so I go overboard on the beads and have fire-eaters in my performance," she explains. SOURCE - Evening Standard
