UK based Nigerian singer songwriter Uyino steps out from behind the production desk and writing to release his own debut single ‘Waiting For Me’. The afrobeat single is up-tempo party fuelled dance floor track with an addictive hook. The ‘pidgin English’ track delivers a slab of African rhythm loaded with electro synths. It is impossible not to move to this beat!
With roots from the deep south of Nigeria, Uyino has been involved in numerous projects and worked with producers Wole Oni, ID Cabassa, Vector and Gen Pype.
He recently co-wrote the hit ‘Get Down’ a club banger in collaboration with top Afrobeats DJ - Cynthia MVP featuring JJC Skillz, and produced by Omokings. The track has been supported massively in the UK and Nigeria. Uyino alongside Omokings, run Softhouse Production, an entertainment and audio-visual recording company that produces afro-centric music and also genres including pop, R&B, hip-hop, dancehall, gospel, soul and EDM.
Whether it was playing drums on his mother’s aluminium pots, or fumbling his way through self learning the flute at age 5, music has always been and intrinsic part of Uyino. From school plays and musical recitals through to church choir, Uyino fell in love with music. He is an adept vocalist and also plays a multitude of instruments. In his early 20s the obligatory boy band years ensued; D’RUK was the dream of three young boys. Made up of Uyino and his two brothers. Their passion for music and a knack for hustle put them on the same stage with some of Nigeria’s prominent artists- Dr Sid, Wande Coal, Terry G, amongst others.
The new single ‘Waiting For Me’ by Uyino will be releasing on the 12th May via Softhouse Productions. The single will be available on iTunes and key digital retailers.
