I am just happy to have finally achieved this project. My first official music release in England after living the first half of my life in Nigeria before coming over to England to start again.
In England I have hustled, worked, schooled, navigated the industry, grafted, paid my dues and I am now settled. Settled because I have found myself and my real love in life, music. I have been doing music since I was a kid in Nigeria, I still I enjoy it and the opportunity to really get something out of it now is truly a great one. Music is all I ever loved doing.
The timing to release this project “The 2nd Life of a Nigerian Immigrant” is right for me because of my experiences. I have now matured as a Blackman living in England with a better understanding of my environment. Secondly, Afrobeat has now opened up with so many genres yet to be explored. Lastly the conditions have changed: the industry now seems to have a better understanding of Nigerians like myself who have spent much of their lives in Nigeria before arriving in this Country.
I started singing as a little boy in my secondary school in a village in Nigeria, now I am releasing a project in England. This is a big deal for me. I have been doing music in England for almost 20 years, even though I took a 7-year break from music in England. I was always in Entertainment.
I came onto the UK Afrobeat scene in 2010. I won the South South Music award SSMA for best newcomer in 2011. In 2013 l went into presenting and journalism due to my bubbly character and charismatic personality. I produced 2 seasons of “Behind the Scenes of UK Afrobeat Entertainment” for BEN TV SKY Channel 184. In 2015 I created a social media platform called Edo Connect. The purpose of Edo Connect was to use my media knowledge to create a connection amongst the Edo people in the UK. This is the best decision I have made to date.
With Edo Connect now a stable platform I have gone back to my passion of making music and I am very optimistic that this time around the outcome will be better.
The Project: The 2nd Life of a Nigerian Immigrant.
