MUSIC: Nigerian star Pheelz releases new single 'Stand By You', announces forthcoming Pheelz Good EP

Following the huge international success he has garnered last year with his hit singles ‘Ballin’, ‘Electricity’ ft Davido and his global smash ‘Finesse’ ft BNXN, the Nigerian music artist, songwriter award-winning producer (Fire Boy DML, Davido, Olamide) and multi-instrumentalist Pheelz , today returns with his brand new single and future smash hit ‘Stand By You’ (out now via Warner Records).

Grounded by a mellow rhythm, the laidback single casts a light, luxuriating spell. And Pheelz seals the deal with his dreamy, whispered lyrics: “I put nothing above you,” he sings. “I’m so proud to call you my boo.” Ultimately, he promises loyalty: “I will stand by you.” The confident, understated number has all the trappings of a night spent between lovers, pouring their hearts out until dawn.

The stirring, Afropop anthem is the latest single from Pheelz’ forthcoming Pheelz Good EP, which is released on February 9th and shaping up to be a must-hear. Few artists are as thoroughly primed for success in 2023 as Pheelz. The stand-out talent has made the most of every opportunity that has come his way since the breakout virality of ‘Finesse’ which established him as one of Nigeria’s most gifted producers and songwriters, as well as an international star on the rise. The single remains a phenomenon, eclipsing over 230 million global streams and counting, with more than 57 million YouTube views on the music video. The single – which spent 20 weeks on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart, peaking at #1 - was included in Barack Obama’s 2022 Summer Playlist, features on the brand-new FIFA 23 soundtrack and was named as one of the Best Songs of 2022 by Rolling Stone and TIME.

Pheelz was recently named ‘Artist To Watch’ in 2023 by Pandora and Amazonmusic. Last year he performed a spellbinding set at Essence Fest’s Afrobeats After Dark and made his US television debut with a performance of “Finesse” on NBC’s Late Show with Seth Meyers (watch it HERE). Pheelz was also the first Afrobeats artist to perform at the BET Awards Pre-Show, where he earned a 2022 nomination for Best New International Act. 2022 also saw him receive his first MOBO Awards nomination for African Act of the Year.

Now, with ‘Stand By You’, Pheelz is entering the new year with gusto, poised to become Afropop’s next global star.
