MUSIC: ALTÉ PIONEER BOJ SHARES NEW TRACK “LINE OF FIRE” FEAT. AYRA STARR / ‘GBAGADA EXPRESS’ ALBUM OUT NOW

"Sweet, charming and seductive in equal measure, it’s hard not to feel indulgent listening to this one." - COMPLEX

“Gbagada Express” is a sensual celebration of the diaspora that avoids the posturing of the chart-toppers and unites Nigeria, where Boj lives, with the UK… It’s often romantic, sexy and pulses with silk-soft subtlety” - The Guardian

Alté frontrunner and Moves Recordings luminary BOJ, today returns with the brand new single “Line Of Fire” featuring esteemed Nigerian vocalist Ayra Starr. The latest release arrives hot on the heels of recent single ‘2 Bad’, the first taste of music since BOJ’s critically lauded COLORS live-performance and celebrated album “Gbagada Express”.

Drenched in warmth and laidback tones, “Line Of Fire” combines smooth verses from BOJ and Ayra Starr atop gentle guitar melodies and shuffling percussion. Delightfully minimal and stylishly produced, the instrumental provides much welcomed space for the two vocalists to take centre stage. From London to Lagos, BOJ artfully weaves a subtle narrative of shared heritage and culture through the entirety of his releases,“Line Of Fire” is a welcomed addition to this ever-expanding discography.

“A very deep melodious song from a place of truth” - BOJ

The bountiful and ambitious “Gbagada Express'' album featured a wealth of collaborations from across the diaspora; WizKid, Amaarae, Enny, Fireboy DML, Buju, Fresh L, DarkoVibes, Pretty Boy D-O, Kofi Jamar, Joey B, Moliy, Mellissa, Victony, Mr Eazi, and Obongjayar. From the sepia-hued, smooth microphone control of “Culture” feat. ENNY, to the angelic toplines of “In A Loop” feat. Moliy & Mellissa, “Gbagada Express” boasts a rich tapestry of features, with BOJ’s trademark honeyed vocals providing the backbone to this abundant project.

Born in England and raised between the UK and Nigeria, Alté has come to sum up Boj’s far-reaching influences, it has been the driving force with which he has been able to draw together artists from around the diaspora spanning grime to afrobeats. BOJ’s previous collaborations have included Skepta, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Mr Eazi, and more recently the Brit and Grammy Award winning Dave on the track “Lazarus” taken from the hit UK number 1 album “We’re All In This Alone Together”. BOJ splits his time between solo projects and the alté pioneering collective DRB LasGidi, alongside long time friend and collaborator TeeZee.
