Already at the forefront of the music industry as a record-breaking, international DJ and pioneer of the burgeoning nightlife scene coming out of Africa, with his world-renowned party Obi’s House – an incubator and launchpad for some of the biggest hits coming out of Nigeria and the continent – DJ Obi today releases his infectious new single ‘Take Me Away’.

Bringing a breezy, uplifting and tropical sound in time for the summer party season, ‘Take Me Away’ melds Afro House and Afropop with addictive percussions and a palpable, rhythmic bass. The Telz-produced song is brought together with smooth, honey-textured vocals from the acclaimed Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ayanfe and Kenya’s biggest Afropop vocalist BIEN (Sauti Soul) – showcasing some of the most vibrant talent from across Africa and inviting you to let go of your inhibitions, dance until the sun comes up and allow the music to just take you away.

Speaking on ‘Take Me Away’, DJ Obi says: "’Take Me Away’ is the beginning of a journey. A journey to your favourite destination, a journey to the dancefloor, a journey to making a memorable moment happen."

Born in Minnesota USA and bred in Lagos, Nigeria and DJ Obi started his DJ career in 2005 and has since made a name for himself as one of the most sought-after and versatile DJs around the world, mastering genres from House and EDM to R&B Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeats and Amapiano. In 2016 he broke the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ set by playing for 240 hours over a 10-day period and as an international DJ has worked with some of the biggest brands and events – notably, he DJ’d at the MET Gala after-party in 2022 and last year at the YouTube pre-Grammys event and the Casablanca Paris Fashion Week after-party - and on stage with global stars such as Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage.

Borne out of the lockdown of 2020/21 and subsequently taken to a physical venue, DJ Obi’s weekly roadblock party Obi’s House has not only become one of the biggest events on the Lagos nightlife scene - regularly attracting over 2,000 partygoers each Monday night and some of the music industry’s best-known stars such as Wizkid, Davido, Tems, Ayra Starr, Rema and Giggs – but also a crucial launchpad for new music coming out of Nigeria and from across the Continent, acting as a vital, cultural incubator and bridge between Nigerian underground scenes and the mainstream.

This summer will see DJ Obi taking Obi’s House on tour across the world, giving the globe his unique taste of Lagos with dates across the UK and North America – including a London date on June 30th at E1 and subsequently on the last Sundays of July and August.

Continuing to expand on the scope of his global appeal with more upcoming international tour dates and DJ sets and with more new music coming throughout the summer and the rest of the year, DJ Obi is on a mission to show the sky is the limit.
