NEW MUSIC: Tehn Diamond Feat. Dhadzad - Simudza Gumbo. (Follow @tehndiamond)

Introducing: 'Simudza Gumbo' – the new single by Zimbabwean rapper Tehn Diamond featuring Dhadzad available for download via www.iamTEHN.com.

It’s the first single to be lifted from the Harare based rapper's eagerly anticipated debut and is an afro-centric take on the infamous JFK quote - "think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country", through a Hip Hop lens.

Produced by one of Zimbabwe's finest - Take Fizzo, high energy synths and 808 drums carry this lyrical call to attention, imploring the listener to get up and do something to shape their future. He says “the success of working with TehN on songs like "Fall Back" and "Happy" drove us to just try and one up ourselves and at the same time - tweaking our Zwagga sound”.

This blazing hot banger, ‘Simudza Gumbo’ is an empowering anthem serving as the first instalment from his forthcoming record. The album The Perfect TeHN set for release later this year is the tipping point in what has been a long road of under the line releases. With mix tapes, several high-profile features and a music video award to his name, TehN Diamond is a true reflection of the indie artist of today. Coming off the successful release of the joint project ‘Few Kings – The Feeling Ain’t Fair’, this is the perfect time to forge ahead as a solo artist. A self-proclaimed ‘Student of the Game’, he has spent the last six years truly learning his craft. Beginning his career as a student in Australia, he traded in the books to begin writing his own chapter in life as a rapper, singer, songwriter and lyrical landscaper. Writing, recording and performing across Australia and South-East Asia he amassed over 800 live shows and a growing fan base across three continents in this time.

Expect a well prepared musical serving peppered with influences from hip-hop, to pop to what some would call ‘real rap’ music. The sheer musicality of it defines the direction in which African urban music is headed. Just as comfortable on African radio charts as Australian radio charts, TehN’s brand of music closes the gap. On the new single, Tehn says, “the inspiration for the song came from a desire to add a new angle to the Zim Hip-Hop discussion and show a side that is socially aware.”
