GADGET: This mini robot walks on your paper and prints while it goes!

If you’re working out and about and you need to print something, you’ll likely have to dig deep into your wallet to print off your documents at a store, but this Kickstarter project is aiming to fix that by letting you print on the go – with an adorable little robot. This gizmo walks all over your paper and actually prints your documents! Read on for all the details.

Meet the Mini Mobile Robotic Printer, a new Kickstarter project launched by Isreali-based Zuta Labs. The start-up is looking to raise $400,000 (£238,578) to turn its mobile printer robot into a reality. We’re big fans of the concept, as it looks just like a tiny robot that moves by itself, but it’s also practical as it can print off your work while you’re on the move.

Modern printers are essentially just a printhead running left and right on a moving piece of paper, so Zuta Labs thought outside the box and though, why not put the printhead on wheels and let it run across the paper instead? The result is the Mini Mobile Robotic Printer, which roams around on your sheets of paper and deals out the ink for your work.

It’s capable of linking up to apps on Windows, OS X, iOS, Android and Windows Phone, and printing around 1,000 pages per each inkjet. Its battery life is also rated for just one hour, but you can juice it up with a USB cable – and best of all, it can easily fit in your bag, as it measures up at just 10cm by 11.5cm and weighs around 300g. The first version is only set to print in greyscale, although there’s also plans in the works for a full-colour version in the future. It’s also set to be priced very reasonably too: you can grab an early bird price of just $150 (£89.47), although you’ll have to wait until next January to actually receive the mini bot.

What do you think of this tiny little robot printer? Could you see yourself packing it into your bag, or will you stick with your printer at home? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
