GADGET: iPunch smart gloves give you feedback on your blows

Wearable tech comes in all different forms – like Google Glass and the smart hoodie – but we didn’t see these smart boxing gloves coming. Hopefully your opponent won’t, either! The iPunch smart gloves aren’t actually about fighting, but about measuring your performance during training.

Whack a punch bag or boxing pad, and integrated sensors measure the strength of your strike.

They sync with an iPunch app on your smartphone, which offers training advice. The app will work on iOS and Android only.

All your punches are saved in your iPunch profile, letting you monitor and share workouts with friends. You can also take on pals in a test of strength, with each of you getting three punches to see who can hit the hardest!

The iPunch gloves last for an impressive 15 hours on a single charge. Whether you can go for that long is another matter entirely.

They’re currently an Indiegogo project, with the designers looking to raise $75,000 (£44,178). You can get your hands on a pair by pledging $139 (£81).

Do you think iPunch has a fighting chance of succeeding? Or have you seen better smart tech? Leave a comment and let us know!
