Instagram users finally experienced "the purge" in the wee hours of the morning. We can't say we didn't see it coming because Instagram clearly warned us all week. Many woke up to their followernumber slightly or majorly decreased.
If you had fake followers (bought followers) or generally just some spam accounts following you then you are sure to have experienced the purge. Instagram deleted accounts that fit these type of accounts.
Several people including celebrities lost a significant amount of followers; even Rihanna lost a significant number of followers but not quite like former Bad Boy rapper Ma$e. According to screenshots, Ma$e's followers went from a whooping 1.6 Million to 272k real quick. (Thanks BallerAlert) Ma$e clearly couldn't bare the shame and preceded to delete his Instagram account.
