Afrikan Boy ft Shingai Shoniwa (The Noisettes) / Sunshine (single) - focus date 21st August
Following the release of his debut album The ABCD and a MOBOs Nomination last year, South London’s Afrikan Boy releases his new single Sunshine featuring Noisettes front woman Shingai Shoniwa.
The track with its summery flavour, reminds us of how the sunshine can make us feel alive and brighten our day. With its lullaby feel to the melody, the track was originally written for, and inspired by Afrikan Boy’s son. AB felt it was a perfect opportunity to get Shingai from Noisettes involved, as they’d both talked about working together before. Shingai’s versatile vocals and energy would brighten up any track and she felt like a natural choice to AB.
Sunshine is produced by Johan Hugo from the band The Very Best who’s debut album: Warm Heart of Africa released on Green Owl / Moshi Moshi, featured M.I.A. and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig.
Meanwhile, as Sunshine hits the airwaves, One Day I Went to *idl, the play based around Afrikan Boy’s first viral hit of the same name, is being premièred at the Ballhaus Naunystrasse theatre in Berlin.
