Zambian frontliners Chanda Mbao and Kaladoshas are back on the scene with a summer hit called ‘My Town’, produced by London-based Zambian producer Greezy Beatz. Released today, August 12th, a day after the Zambian elections, they serve up an offering celebrating their heritage and showcasing their hometown to the world.
When asked about his choice of release date, Chanda noted that because elections can be times of anxiety and uncertainty, he wanted to release something light-hearted to celebrate his home and revel in its beauty, particularly because the spotlight is on Zambia right now. "We've always been known for peace and, in a way, this is a celebration of that and the beauty of where we're from."
The spectacular visuals present the various sights of the artists’ hometown, Lusaka, and were put together by one of Zambia’s leading production houses, IKONiK Media, courtesy of director Dj Lo.
This team of individuals doesn’t seem to be slowing down the pace and seem intent on putting their country on the map. Chanda assures us of more big releases this year and beyond.
