Rumblings of Kanye West wanting Will Ferrell to play him in a supposed ‘Kanye West Story’ surfaced in a W Magazine interview this past September for its “Royals” issue. West even went further by explaining that his personality is like Ferrell’s character Buddy in the movie Elf, in that he just wants to “spread joy to the world” with his music. Now according to Metro, a source who is a close friend of Kanye just revealed that the The Life of Pablo artist has “been thinking about this for a long, long time and he has been trading ideas with Will.”
West supposedly wants a film about himself, which he has already approved to be a comedy rather than a drama or documentary project. “Rather than take himself too seriously, he feels it has to be a comedy and not a preachy film,” the insider added. In addition to Will Ferrell, West also wants comedy director Adam McKay to be involved – as some of you may know, McKay’s resume includes both Anchorman movies, Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby, The Other Guys, and Step Brothers. Remember that West also appeared in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.
If the project somehow gets the green light, it will be interesting to see who they pick to play the other figures in West’s inner circle such as Kim Kardashian and other rapper friends.
