Boxer Amir Khan has spoken out against his wife and family for their "childish behaviour" after a recent series of public rows and tiffs between those closest to him.
"Here is me working my ass off to helping the less fortunate with charity dinners and my family and wife are just distroying [sic] my name." Khan said in a statement posted to Twitter.
Khan's wife, 25-year-old model Faryal Makhdoom, caused a social media storm earlier on Tuesday (13 December) after posting a picture to Snapchatallegedly showing Khan's brother, Haroon Khan, naked.
The latest scandal came after Makhdoom had accused her in-laws of mistreating her, including accusing her sister-in-law of hitting her and throwing a television remote control at her.
In an interview with the Sun on Sunday, Makhdoom claimed that Khan's family bullied her and considered her a "bad Muslim" because they disagreed with her "modern" lifestyle.
A spokesman for Khan told IBTimes UK that the picture posted by Makhdoom had been deleted and Khan would not make another statement until the following day. In his Twitter statement, Khan apologised for the "silly picture and message my wife Fayral put up".
"My parents are my parents and my wife is my wife. Whatever misunderstanding has happened they should keep it private," Khan said. He went on: "This is getting to the point where they will lose a son & a husband. Childish behaviour. Both parties need to stop this."
Khan then signed off saying "I've had enough".
