MUSIC: SILVASTONE announces brand new forthcoming EP, "LEVELS"

SILVASTONE "LEVELS" EP
(Silvastone Music)

'AFRICAN BEATS x UK STREET SOUNDS x GLOBAL MELODIES'

Widely regarded as one of the elite Afrobeats talent in the UK music scene artist/producer SILVASTONE is all set to take things to new heights as he readies to drop his much anticipated second long-form project, LEVELS. The self-produced extended EP is penned to drop independently on 10th March with distribution from leading African music purveyor, AFRICORI.

Throughout LEVELS the super-talent displays his trademark approach of seamlessly weaving his African sonic threads through numerous music styles. Borrowing from a wide variety of genre staples from his early DJing days and extensive worldwide travel influences the EP is a unique blend of Hip-hop, R&B, Soul, Trap and Dancehall all super-laced with a highly distinct African spirit.

SILVASTONE’s undeniable majestic production and song-crafting skills are fully evident from start to finish on LEVELS. From the sonic melange of heavy beats and swelling basslines on the aptly titled opening track - “Incredible”, to the afro-spiritual soundscapes of the closing track, “Run For You”. Elsewhere on the 15 track EP you are taken on an ever-changing excursion of lavish guitars, whining synths, brooding percussions and a multitude of sweet hypnotic instrumentation – mostly played by the multi-talent himself.

London-born SILVASTONE discovered his musical skills as a 5 year old and later developed it by replaying songs he heard on radio on his father’s piano whilst they maintained a low-profile living in Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown during its long-ongoing civil war in the 90s. As documented on his latest offering its surviving such experiences that have driven and over-arched the ever ambitious talent to aspire to higher plateaus. Few years later the young talent was already producing, remixing, collaborating and/or touring with big national and international acts including Damian Marley, Rita Ora, Fuse ODG, Davido, Mark Morrison, Yemi Alade, Ace Hood, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Sneakbo, D’banj, etc.

SILVASTONE independently manoeuvred his late-2014 debut EP project ‘TRANSITIONS’ to emphatic high acclaims and support from the industries key movers, shakers and influencers. He went on to be included on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s coveted 'Hot for 2015' - the acts to watch breakthrough, plus debuted at Glastonbury Festivaland - amongst many other meteoric international accolades, earned himself a “Best African Act” nomination at the prestigious MOBO Awards that same year. That debut offering and the bridging singles that followed attracted SILVASTONE extensive live bookings and radio/TV airplay plus streaming spins across the UK and worldwide. The ambitions for LEVELS are to surpass all these high achievements and the fantastic early support this week with individual track premieres on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Colourful Radio, Westside FM, SiriusXM, and support on key playlists of popular streaming platforms like Spotify etc is a great start already.

LEVELS is an uplifting, diverse and freshly sounding project created by a creative who connects with audiences of a widespread demographic. His blend of sounds have proven to transcend the barriers of age, race and gender. After showcasing the EP in full publicly for the first time at his well-attended pre-listening party in central London SILVASTONE exclaimed, "LEVELS vibrantly reflects the continued growth in me as artist and proudly encompasses much of where am at right now creatively. If 'TRANSITIONS' was the beginning of an onwardly journey then 'LEVELS' is where I was already excitedly heading".

In revealing the full EP artwork SILVASTONE highlights strong features from Moelogo - 'Over', Vicky Sola - 'Still', Rory Sky - 'Got Me', Frank T Blucas 'Remedy' and of course the fast-rising Ike Chuks who features on the banging current single - 'Incredible'.

The diverse range and scope of the 15 songs is altogether impressive. The term 'something for everybody' is often exaggerated but in LEVELS terms everyone certainly gets a heap full serving of something they will love here. Whether drawing for the banging "Blow My Mind" or reaching for a repeat helping of the hypnotically infectious "Eyes On You". Many will remark on the sweet taste of "Kele Wele" or perhaps favourably answer to the joyous call of "Are You On It?". Elsewhere stand-out future-hits like "Together" or the braggadocios "Do My Ting" and bashment vibes of "Billa Bad Man" will have you choreographing your favourite moves whilst the touching "I Wish" and beautifully catchy "Excuse Me" will all have you reaching for that repeat button.

In the words of respected African music ambassador - 1Xtra's DJ Edu, "The talented SILVASTONE once again showcases his remarkable versatility on this new body of work #LEVELS - 'nuff said". And, Capital Xtra's very own Reggae and all things Afro bashment selector Ras Kwame adds, "No question SILVASTONE a one of di wickedest tings in this Afro bashy movement. Mek dem know! His music is always sleekly on some next levels fe real". Heightened praises indeed.
