OnePlus One denim phone is unveiled: High-end specs at a budget price!
Apple, Samsung, Google and the rest, all be warned – there’s a killer new mobile
coming to town. It’s called the OnePlus One, and it packs crazy specs into a package that doesn’t cost the earth.
Oh, and did we mention it comes in a denim jacket too?
The OnePlus One was unveiled in Beijing this morning. The handset
packs in a cracking Snapdragon 801 processor – the same found in the Samsung Galaxy S5 – 3GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 4G and Bluetooth 4.0.
Despite these high-end specs, it’s very affordable. The 16GB version will cost just £229, while the 64GB model will set you back £269.
That’s less than half the price of an iPhone 5S.
It comes in a range of interesting covers and colours too, including bamboo, wood, denim, and kevlar. Or you can opt for a standard back or white finish.
It has stereo speakers
on the bottom, and in terms of dimensions, it’s only a little bigger than the Nexus 5.
It runs a new version of the Cyanogenmod operating system, called Cyanogenmod 11S. It’s based on Android, but on the downside, this may be a bit tricker to get to grips with than the more familiar iOS.
The handset is expected soon, though there’s no exact release date yet for the UK. Stay tuned for more.
