GADGET: Food fight! Fast food chain turns trays and smartphones into mini football pitches!

“Don’t play with your food,” some of our more grown up friends seem to love muttering while frowning at their kids. It’s like a red rag to a bull though, and we think it’d be a lot easier to just embrace the idea of fun food! We’re not the only ones either, which is why Brazilian fast food chain Giraffas has turned food trays into football pitches, and with a little help from your smartphone, there’s everything you need for your very own food-basedWorld Cup!

Head into a fast food restaurant, and there’s one thing that all of them seem to have in common. If you eat in, you’ll end up with your food on a tray. A rectangular tray, suspiciously similar in shape to a tiny football pitch…

Giraffas has added some raised edges, in order to keep the “ball” in play, along with a snazzy turf-coloured lining, complete with centre circle, penalty box and locations to takefree kicks from. All you’ll need is a bit of rolled up paper as a ball, and your smartphone as the goal, and you’re good to go.

A compatible smartphone app helps to make the game though, turning the entire screen of your phone into a goal, complete with twitchy goalkeeper to try and dive and save the ball!

Whether it’s as fun remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a lot easier than setting up a Subbuteo table, and needs a lot less space. Although having to dodge burgers and try not to get tripped over by chips arguably takes a slight element of realism out of the game!

Still, we’re smitten, and it’s an idea that would certainly make dining in less salubrious fast food joints more enjoyable. Let’s just hope it makes it over to the UK at some point!
