GADGET: New cheaper iMacs could land next week, but no Retina model in sight

New cheaper iMacs could land next week, but no Retina model in sight

New cheaper iMacs could land next week, but no Retina model in sight Apple could be about to refresh its iMac line-up, but don’t get your hopes up too high, as thefabled Retina display iMac probably won’t make an appearance.

Rumours suggest the new models will add Intel’s latest processors and Thunderbolt 2 ports, meaning it’ll be more of a spec boost than a complete upgrade.

Apple might also cut the price, according to the French website that leaked the info. Sadly, there’s no word on exactly how much cheaper the new models will be.

The Cupertino company refreshed its MacBook Air models in April, and lowered the price while it was at it. It’s been a while since it tinkered with its range of desktops, so who knows, we could well see a new range launched next week. Fingers crossed it slashes the price too.

Last week, we heard news of a Retina display-toting iMac that’s supposedly in the works. This would have a ridiculous resolution of 3,200×1,800 pixels, which would quite possibly melt your eyeballs with its crazy sharpness and brightness.

A Retina iMac has been rumoured for years now. Here’s hoping it’ll land sooner rather than later.
