Sweatbands at the ready: Fitbit working on Windows Phone 8.1 app
So far, Fitbit devices have only worked with iOS or Android, but not for much longer. The company has announced it’s working on an app for Windows Phone 8.1. Which is excellent news for anyone with a device like the Nokia Lumia 630.
Fitbit made the announcement on its forums. The statement reads: “Fitbit is developing an application for Windows Phone 8.1. Thank you for all your feedback and support.”
Short, and to the point.
It would’ve been nice if it could’ve given some more details, but at least we know it’s on the way.
Microsoft’s mobile OS has been a bit lacking in fitness apps so far. The Nike FuelBand SE,Jawbone Up 24, Fitbug Orb, and Misfit Shine are all conspicuous by their absence.
Fitbit is one of the leading names in the fitness wearable arena. Devices like the Fitbit Flexand Fitbit One have fared well in our tests, so we’d welcome them being opened up to Windows Phone users.
Microsoft is said to be working on its own fitness-focussed wearable gadget. Apple is also said to be readying a device called the iWatch or iBand, with Nike supposedly making the software.
