Zayn Malik sensationally quit the band earlier this week and it later it emerged he would be working on solo material - with the producer.
Naughty Boy, who’s also worked with the likes of Emeli Sande and Sam Smith, tweeted, “have a bit of faith guys,” but he was soon met with a barrage of angry messages.
“Give us Zayn back,” one said, while others simply told him "no".
The 30-year-old, who has worked with Zayn and the rest of the band previously, then retweeted one of his fan accounts.
“There’s a side in this industry that you will never understand,” it read, presumably telling fans there's more to the story.
